Meet The Team

IMG_4536Hiya! I’m Felicia Bennett, this year’s Project Leader for the Syracuse University chapter of Nourish International’s Internship team. I am a music business major and official Syracuse alumni as of two weeks ago. We have been on the ground in Uganda for four days and the anticipation continues to build as orientation begins tomorrow. This morning we attended Winnie’s church and I have already been taught so much by the Global Health Network Uganda (GHNU) staff and hope that I can give back by sharing my knowledge, culture, and spirit with them.

Hi! My name is Jared, and I am a junior Sociology and Citizenship and Civic Engagement Major at Syracuse University. I’m excited to meet more people in the community. We have already received such a warm welcome, and the more people I meet, the more I feel at home. I cannot wait to start our projects, to see how implementing them actually compares to the them on paper.

Aber (Hello)! My name is Clarissa Gallagher and I am a junior studying Marketing and Accounting. We’ve been here in Uganda for a few days now and it has been filled with excitement. Back home I loved getting involved in the community, so being here and meeting so many nice and welcoming people has really allowed us to start getting immersed within their community. Tomorrow is a busy day for us since we start orientation. I am so excited to learn more about GHNU and start working on our project. I can’t wait to broaden my horizons through the community and culture and hopefully give back where I can.

Hi everyone! My name is Yang, I come from China, and I am studying in International Relations at Syracuse University. Our Nourish International Interns will be working with GHN(U) in Oyam district for the next six weeks. It’s my first time as an international intern, and I feel so excited about this. We arrived at the guest house three days ago and people here are very nice. The food is so delicious as well! I hope I can build a friendship with the community members and learn more about their culture. There are surprises everyday since we got here, can’t wait to start our work on Monday!

Hey hey! I’m Sydni, a junior studying Public Health at Syracuse University.  I have never traveled to this part of the world, nor have I done a project like the one we are doing, so I’m excited to get started. The people we have met here have welcomed us into their community with open arms, and I hope to help make a positive impact on their lives as we begin our projects and health education.

Hello! My name is Elle and I’m a rising sophomore. My major is International Relations at Syracuse University. Since we arrived on Thursday, we have received nothing but warm welcomes from both the GHNU workers, the people we have met from the Oyam district, and at the church this morning. I am looking forward to more meaningful interactions with the people I encounter as I learn the culture and lifestyle here in Uganda. We begin our projects soon, and I feel ready to begin our 6 weeks here with an open mind and determined spirit.

Hey guys! My name is Ziad and I am a rising junior at Syracuse University studying Neuroscience and Psychology. Since my arrival on Thursday, I have been fully committed to engaging with the community and indulging in the culture surrounding me. I’d like to express myself as a very open person, so entering a country that may experience a completely different culture than what I am used to in the States is a real pleasure and great opportunity. I am extremely eager to get to know all the people I meet here, and hope to build close relationships and everlasting bonds. By creating these bonds, I hope to build the knowledge and insight of myself and the community through the experiences we will endeavor.
