We are less than 24 hours away from our departure to India! We are checking our packing list one more time to ensure that we have everything that we need. It is very tense time right now, as we have prepared for this moment over the last few months. It is truly bitter sweet moment as we leave our family and friends, and fly to another world to make new friends and create a positive impact to end extreme poverty.

For some of the project interns, this is their first international trip, and so the pre-departure activities/meetings have been really beneficial in helping the team prepare for India. Some of the activities included having each project intern research different aspects of Gujarat (food, social, cultural, or political climate), and then teach their findings to the team. Other activities included going to an authentic Indian restaurant, named Tadka to gain exposure to the food, and to have the team bond. Creating a team bond was important so that we could effectively work together once we’re in India.

The team has had a great time learning about India and each other.We are excited to work with Samerth Charitable Trust and to help implement the Nourish mission.
