Alex and I, the Rice Project team, updating again, this time from Mazan, Peru. We have just concluded the first week of our project, and we couldn’t be happier. After meeting with our partners in Proyecto Amazonas, it was decided that the first order of business, in order to facilitate the continuation of our project into next week, would be the construction of some critically needed bridges along our resupply route. Work was delayed Monday due to some administrative issues, but started late on Tuesday after the rain. Half of the main bridge was completed on Tuesday, and the entire tertiary bridge was completed on Wednesday. After gathering supplies on Thursday, said supplies were moved to the secondary bridge site on Friday, leaving little work before the infrastructure is completed. Alex and I are enjoying ourselves immensely, and look forward to updating next week, when we stay for three nights in Iquitos.
